Sparta Historical's spring exhibit at the Van Kirk Homestead Museum focuses primarily on the science but includes the artistic and history of metal.  The metals displayed are aluminum, copper, gold, iron, lead, silver, tin and zinc and the alloys (combination of two metals) are brass, pewter and steel.  Ore samples containing metals in the rocks are exhibited along with their products manufactured from their extraction such as toys, musical instruments, jewelry and both functional and decorative household objects.   Embrace the age prior to plastics!   2pm talk
